War Support on the Rise

For my example of Logos i chose an article from March on politico.com. The article explains that current support for the war effort is at its highest since 2006. It states that 53% of Americans now believe that the U.S. will ultimately achieve its goals in Iraq. This number is up from 43% in September of 07. The article continues to talk about support for the war effort and gives numerous statistics and percentages to enforce its argument. Besides the war effort it also talks about public support of the presidential candidates and how support has fluctuated between Obama and McCain regarding their views and promises concerning the war and its future.

I think it's funny that war support goes up when an election is coming. Its almost as if people were against the war simply to be against Bush. I don't know who this shows more support towards in terms of the two candidates though.

I thought this was pretty interesting because the last time I saw an announcement about support for the war, it was on the way down. If this upward trend continues, it will be interesting to see how high it gets.

Whats interesting about this is how many Americans can be "fair weather fans" of wars. If the war is looking better with an end in sight then more people will naturally think it was good decision. When wars are going poorly with more bad news with each day support dramatically falls. I think most people forget how tough and difficult it is to actually win a war.
